The purpose of the Agricultural Communications Career Development Event is to provide individuals with basic communications skills necessary to take advantage of career opportunities in agricultural communications. Public communications about agricultural products, practices and policies are essential to the future of agriculture. Students who are equipped with strong communication skills and who can use a variety of media to help the public understand issues related to the agricultural industry have a bright future in the job market.
The State FFA Agricultural Mechanics Contest is patterned after the National Contest and is designed for the student to demonstrate mechanical knowledge, solve mechanical problems, and complete manipulative mechanical activities.
The winning team in this activity will be eligible to represent the state in the National Contest held at the time of the National FFA Convention.
The marketing of agricultural products is a key to profitability in today's competitive economy, and agricultural sales play a major role in the marketing process. Through this contest, students will have the opportunity to prepare for careers in sales by participating in a wide range of activities oriented around the total sales process.
Open to students in grades 7-12. Students participate in research projects in their local communities and then prepare a scientific report and display for judging at the national level. Competition is divided into five categories: Botany, Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Zoology, Biochemistry/Food Science/Microbiology.
The purpose of the Parliamentary Procedure Event is to encourage proficient participation in the conduct of the business of an organization.
This contest is designed to develop leadership abilities by providing participation in agricultural public speaking activities and stimulating interest in leadership and citizenship. Preliminary events are of local, district, sectional, and sub-state participation and they are held under the auspices of the FFA unit concerned. These preliminary events culminate in the state event held at the time of the FFA State Convention.
This contest is designed to give younger members an opportunity to participate in an activity where they may display their leadership and speaking abilities. This is an initial mastery event.
